Alone at 10 p.m. on a Saturday, she swipes away Until she drains her phone She matched with Daniel, James and handsome Jake from Silverlake Who texted “Want to bone?” She just wants a chill hipster to share her heart But she don’t know where to start Guys, all of them are assholes who spout lies And most of them are married Lord of the Flies She’s a Piggy in a world of Ralphs She’s got a pixelated heart Fifty dates or more since they dropped the bomb at his dotcom Divorced dad wants to score Burns through his 401K at a frightening pace but a happy face For the daughters he adores He just wants no attachments, a horny divorcee But he don’t have any game Dames, all of them are busy playing games And most of them are icy Shot down in flames He's s a Lennie in the world of George He’s got a pixelated heart

I respectfully disagree With the names you’re calling me But I’ve explained myself enough We’re just different tribes I guess the thing that really smarts Is the coldness on your part A couple years just disappeared Wiped off the books Weekend road trips to the lighthouse Laughing in bed until we passed out These memories are slowly fading Washed out by how you left My memories have gone grey and hazy Just a bleached-stained image of a woman I used to love Always so sweet until you’re not Drunk birthday dances were so hot You turned me on as fast as you could turn me off Your swiss cheese logic has some holes You better do some growing up To see above the wall You’ve built around yourself Kissing with wax lips at the state fair For thrift store adventures I’d go anywhere

Derailed 04:05
German-designed Four-thousand feet of polished steel Alberta pride Until the coaster lost its wheel Twice that day operators closed the ride But the metallic sound could not be identified So they let 'em ride Black out the sun Triple loop thrill Momentum was lost up that final hill Panic set in Roll down the track Metal to concrete, fade to black An inquiry found Translation problems were the cause Bolts worn down Design and manufacturing flaws Hundreds at a concert watched it fail Hurled to death as the yellow train derailed A morbid tale A world record mall in '81 with movies and arcades Gawking at Gretzky on the ice, a steel blade ballet But book stores died and so did Tony, Cindy, and David The Mindbender, she did survive, a memorial belated

Amidst a cold, rough winter Eleven feet of rain A hundred days across three oceans To the Shadowlands again A Southern Ocean ice field Deep blue and Davy’s grey Pack-ice punctures the steel frame Alarm bells rouse the crew The bosun sounds the mayday call Seawater fills the engine room Ten-thousand nautical miles White water cat and mouse The starboard side is down There’s no toothfish in the logbooks of this trawler so don’t you bother Three days from Nigeria She’s swallowed by the sea With the crew aboard the life rafts She’s scuttled as they flee Then a fist pump from the captain As the trawler disappears A renegade cheer

Bad Tattoos 02:33
I want to know about your estranged sister Your sordid tales and bad tattoos I want to find what makes you howl with laughter Your favorite kind of meadow rue This is my favorite part of the story Before the plot twist gets revealed Sharing philosophies and flirtations Projecting subconscious ideals It’s a wooing dance Crank up the sexual tension as I vie for your affection With a furtive glance We cover up our traumas to avoid the pending drama that comes next as we couple up our lives I’ll tell you all about my travels My successful friends in famous bands You’ll make me swoon with witty banter Seduce me with your sleight of hand And at the denouement we’ll say farewell Our story ends but we part as friends, roll end credits Tried to forget about your estranged sister The sordid tales were mostly lies The things that made me laugh grew to annoy me The meadow rue wilted and died, at least we tried
